Abstrak
ABSTRACT Nurul Hidayah, 2021. Improving Writing Skill of the Eighth Grade Students at MTs DDI Siapo Tolitoli Through Collaborative Writing. English Language Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the Supervision of Mochtar Marhum. The objective of this research was to find out whether or not the use of collaborative writing technique can improve writing skill of the eighth grade students at MTs DDI Siapo, Tolitoli. This research employed a quasi experimental research design with 43 students as the sample selected by using total sampling technique. To collect the data, test which was divided into pretest and posttest were used as the research instrument. .The pretest means score for the experimental group and control group were 40.83 and 55.80. The posttest means score for the experimental group and control group were 77.50 and 59.06. The data were analyzed theoretically by applying t-test formula where the degree of freedom (df) is 41. The result of statistical analysis shows that the t-counted value is 7.99 while the t-table value is 1.68. The result of the calculation indicates that the t-counted value is higher than the t-table value. It implies that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the use of collaborative writing technique can improve the skill of the eighth grade students of MTs DDI Siapo, Tolitoli in writing paragraph text.
