English language Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Teacher training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Anshari Syafar. The objective of this study is to find out the effect of Inquiry Strategy (IS) in developing the vocabulary proficiency of EFL learners in English Teaching. This research apply IS to help EFL learners in vocabulary learning. It employs quantitative research, that is, quasi experimental research design in which the control and experimental groups are not equivalent. The samples were intentionally assigned for class A as experimental and class B as control groups respectively consisting of 19 and 16 EFL learners. Both groups was assigned pretest and post test for collecting data and the experimental groups was treated with IS while control group was not taught with IS. Data were analyzed using t-test to compare two set of mean scores of experimental and control groups. The results of the data analysis shows that the class tought with IS has higher mean score (82.05) compared to the class was not taught with IS (71.60). Further analysis indicates that t-counted (13.63) is greater than t-table (2.04) with 0.05 level of significance degree of freedom (df) 33. Therefore, the use of IS to teach Englsih has impact to develop vocabulary proficiency of EFL learners in this study. Keywords : Inquiry Strategy, Developing, Vocabulary Proficiency.
