Abstrak
ABSTRACT Sudarti, 2020. This skripsi entitles “The Implementation of REAP strategy to Improve the Eight Grade Students Reading Comprehension at MTs Negeri 1 Kota Palu”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. It is under the Supervision of Dr.Hj.Sriati Usman,M.Hum. The objective of this research is to find out the significance differences in reading comprehension by using REAP strategy of the eight-grade students of MTsN 1 Kota Palu. The researcher applied quasi experimental research by involving an experimental group and a control group. The population of the research was the eight-grade students of MTsN 1 Kota Palu. The sample was taken by applying purposive sampling technique. The sample was 33 students of class VIII E as the experimental group and 33 students of class VIII A as the control group. The experimental group was given treatment by applying REAP strategy in teaching reading comprehension, whereas the control group was taught with general way as the teacher uses. The Instrument of data collection was test (pre-test and post-test). Based on the analysis data, it was found that there are significant differences between the sc ore of the experimental and the control groups. It indicated by the t-counted (7.59) was higher than the t-table (1.998) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (64). Therefore, there was a significant difference in reading comprehension between students who were taught without and with REAP strategy. Key words: REAP strategy, Reading Comprehension.
