| Abstrak ABSTRACT Nunung Pandang Sari (A12116009). “Improving Reading Comprehension of Grade X Students at SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Tengah through Literature Circle Strategy”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. It is under the Supervision of Mochtar Mahrum. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the Literature Circle strategy is effective in teaching reading comprehension to the ten grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Tengah. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental research design. The samples of this study were 18 students in X MIPA 1 as the experimental group and 18 students in X MIPA 2 as the control group. They were selected by the purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher used post-test and pre-test to both groups. The result of the data analysis showed the t-counted was 4.21 and t-table was 1.69 with the degree of freedom (df) 34 and 0.05 level of significance. The results of the data show that the t-counted was higher than the t-table. It means that the hypothesis of this research was accepted. In other words, Literature Circle strategy is effective in teaching reading comprehension to the ten-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Parigi Tengah.
