Abstrak
ABSTRACT Moh. Rivan Ardiansyah (A 121 16 001). Improving Reading Comprehension of Grade VIII Students through Annotating Text Strategy at SMP Negeri 1 Ampibabo Parigi Moutong, Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Language Education Study Program, under the supervision of Mawardin M.Said. This study aims to find out whether or not the implementation of Annotating Text Strategy can improve reading comprehension of the grade eight students of SMP Negeri 1 Ampibabo Parigi Moutong. The research applied quasi-experimental design. The samples were students of class VIII C consisting of 24 students as the experimental class and class VIII B was 24 students as he control class. They were selected by purposive sampling. To collect the data, test which was divided into pretest and posttest, was used as the research instrument. The mean score of pretest for the experimental class and control class were 60 and 63.33 respectively. The mean score of posttest for the experimental class and control class were 66.11 and 64.44. By applying the degree of freedom (df) 46 and 0.05 of the significance level, this research indicates that the t-counted value (2.34) is higher than the t-table (1.679). In other words, the hypothesis of this research is accepted. Therefore, the students’ reading comprehension can be improved by Annotating Text Strategy.
