Abstrak
ABSTRACT Rizky Mulya ( A 121 15 243). The use of Brainstorming Technique to Improve Writing Descriptive Text of the Eight Grade Students at SMP Negeri 1 Sindue. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language And Art Department, English Language Education Study Program, Tadulako University. Under the Supervisor of Darmawan. This research aims at finding out whether the use of brainstorming technique can improve writing descriptive text of the eight grade students’ at SMP Negeri 1 Sindue. The researcher used quasi-experimental research design. The population was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sindue that consisted of 4 classes. The sample was drawn by applying random sampling technique to select an experimental group and a control group. The samples were VIII B as the experimental group with 30 students and VIII A as the control group with 30 students. The instrument of data collection was pretest and posttest. The result of the data analysis shows that the mean score of students of the experimental group improved from 43.89 to 75. Meanwhile, the control groups mean score improved from 46.67 to 45.55 Furthermore, the result of data analysis show that t-counted is 2.06 while the value of t-table is 1.671 by applying 0.05 level of significance and 50 degree of freedom. It can be deducted that the t-counted is higher than t-table. It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. It implies that using Brainstorming technique can improves writing descriptive text at the grade eighth students of SMP Negeri 1 Sindue.
