| Abstrak ABSTRACT Beti Setiawanti (A 121 15 242).“Increasing Vocabulary Mastery of grade Seventh Students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu through Puppet”, under the supervision of Sudarkam R. Mertosono. This research aims to find out if implementing puppet medium increases of grade seventh students’ vocabulary mastery of SMP Negeri 9 Palu. The researcher used quasi-experimental research design. The population was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu that consisted of 10 classes. The sample was drawn by applying cluster sampling technique to select an experimental group and a control group. The samples were VII E as the experimental group with 27 students and VII C as the control group with of 27 students. The instrument of data collection was pretest and posttest. The result of the data analysis shows that the mean score of students of the experimental group improved from 51.85 it 79.44. Meanwhile, the control groups mean score improved from 44.63 it 61.30. Furthermore, the result of data analysis show that t-counted was 4.87 while the value of t-table was 1.675 by applying 0.05 level of significance and 52 degree of freedom. It can be deducted that the t-counted is higher than t-table. It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. It implies that using puppet medium improves English vocabulary of grade seventh students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu. Keywords: Increasing, Puppet, Vocabulary Mastery |
