Skripsi English Education Study Program, Languange and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University.Under the supervision of Ferry Rita This research is aiming at finding out whether or not the implementation of Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy can improve the reading comprehension of the tenth grade students at SMA Negeri 5 Model Palu. This research employed quasi experimental design which involved two groups of students as experimental and control groups. The samples were selected by cluster random sampling technique. The samples were the students of X MIPA III as the experimental group and X MIPA IV as the control one. The instrument of this research was a test which was given to the sample as pretest and posttest in the form of written test. The result of data analysis showed that the mean score of posttest in experimental group (79,28) was higher than the mean score of posttest in control group (64,8). By applying 50 degree of freedom (df) and 0.05 level of significance, it indicated that the tconted (2.25) was higher than the ttable (1.67). Furthermore, it clarified that the hypothesis of this research was accepted. In conclusion, the findings of this research reveal that students’ reading skill can be effectively and significantly improved by using Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD).
