Abstrak
Gitania Yerisusanto (A 121 15 205) The Use of Inductive Approach in Teaching English Tense to the Grade Ten Students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu. English Study Program, Language and Arts Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervisor of Ferry Rita. The purpose of this research is to determine whether the Use of Inductive Approach is effective or not in teaching English tense to the grade ten Students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental research design with 54 students as a sample. The sample of this research was X IIS 5 as the experimental group and X IIS 1 as the control group selected by purposive sampling technique. The data collection instrument is the test which divided into pretest and posttest. The collected data were analyzed statistically. The results of the data analysis show that there are significant differences between the results of the pretest and posttest. It can be proved by looking at the mean score of the two test results where the mean score of the experimental group increased significantly from 27.03 to 62.00. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control group increased from 30.74 to 46.96. Based on the results of the pretest and posttest, the researcher found that the t-counted value is 11.36. The researcher found that the t-table is 1.895 which showed that the researcher’s hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of inductive approach is effective in teaching English tense to the grade ten students at SMA 3 Palu. Keywords: Inductive Approach, English Tense
