Abstrak ABSTRACT Nabila, (2020). This skripsi entitled “Improving Reading Comprehension of the Tenth Grade Students of Ma Alkhairaat Sigenti Through Make a Match Technique”. English Education Study Program, Depertment of Language and Art Education, Teacher Training and Education faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Nadrun. The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of Make a Match technique in teaching reading comprehension to the tenth grade students of MA Alkhairaat Sigenti. In this research, the number of population was 58 students. The researcher applied quasi experimental research design which involved experimental group and control group. The samples were XB as the experimental group and XA as the control group. They were selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used to collect the data was reading test, especially essay test as a representation of reading and some vocabulary to make a match question and answer. The result of the data analysis indicated that there was a significant improvement in the students’ reading comprehension after using Make a Match technique. The mean score of the experimental group before the treatment was 49.89, while the control group was 56.67. After the researcher gave the treatment, the mean score of the experimental group was 83.56, and the control group was 72.07. It was also found that t-counted (2.60) was higher than ttable (1.673). It means that the hypothesis was accepted or there was a significant influence in teaching process. Thus, the use of Make a Match Technique is effective to improve reading comprehension of the tenth grade students of MA Alkahairaat Sigenti.
