Abstrak
ABSTRACT Ernawati 2015: A 121 15 181. This Skripsi is entitled “The Application of Minimal Pairs Technique to Improve Pronunciation the Tenth Grade Student of SMA Negeri 1 Sarudu Pasangkayu”.English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, 2022 under the supervisor of Rofiqoh. The objective of this research is to prove whether the use of minimal pairs technique can improve the pronunciation of the ten grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sarudu. This research applied a quasi experimental research which consisted of two groups, namely experimental and control groups. The population of this research was grade X MIA 1 as the control group consisting of 25 students and grade X MIA 2 as the experimental group consisting of 25 students. The instrument of the data collection used in this research was test. The test was a pronunciation test. There are two tests, pre-test and post-test. Both tests were given to both groups. The data of this research was analysed statistically. After the data were analysing the finding showed it, there was significant difference between the mean score of experimental group and control groups .The mean score of post-test of experimental group is (82,6), while the mean score post-test of control group is (79.6)). Therefore, t-counted (3.86) is higher than t-table (1.672).In other words, minimal pairs technique can improve the pronunciation strident sounds of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Sarudu Pasangkayu by using minimal pairs technique.
