| Abstrak ABSTRACT Maqvira Pebrianti N. Rolle (2021). This Skripsi entitled “The Use of Film Trailer in Teaching Writing Narrative text to the Grade Ten Students at SMA Negeri 3 Tolitoli”. The Skripsi of English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty at Tadulako University, under the supervision of Sriati Usman. The objective of this research was to prove the effectiveness of Film Trailer in teaching writing narrative text to the grade ten students at SMA Negeri 3 Tolitoli. This research applied a quasi-experimental research design which involved experimental group and control group. The samples were class X MIA3 as the experimental class and class X MIA1 as the control class. They were selected by using purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave pretest and posttest for both of groups. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. The result showed that the mean scores pretest of the experimental group was 35.32 and the posttest was 65.63. The mean score pretest of control group was 36.48 and the mean score of the posttest was 58.64. Furthermore, the analysis of t-table using degree of freedom (df) 38 (Nx+Ny-2) with the significant level 0.05 was found that t-counted value was 2.883 and t-table is 1.686. The data indicates that t-counted is greater than t-table. In conclusion the use of film trailer is effective in teaching narrative text to the grade ten students at SMA Negeri 3 Tolitoli.
