| Abstrak ABSTRACT Nurmasita Toindeng (A 121 15 158). “Teaching Vocabulary Through Word Search Puzzle to Grade VII Students at SMP Negeri 1 Kintom Banggai”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Department of Language and Art Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. It was under supervision of Mawardin. The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of word search puzzle in teaching vocabulary at SMP Negeri 1 Kintom Banggai. The population of this research are grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Kintom Banggai. This research samples class VII B as the experimental class which consist of 23 students and class VII A as the control class which consist of 23 students. They were selected by using purposive sampling. The researcher employed quasiexperimental research design where the two classes get Pretest and Posttest. The data analysis indicates that there is a significant improvement between the results of Posttest of both classes. The main score of experimental class before the treatment is 30.9 while control class is 32.14. After giving the treatment, the mean score of experimental class in Posttest is 64.44 and the control class is 38.35. It is also shown that the tcounted 4.98 is greater in ttable 1.68. It means the use of Word Search Puzzle technique is effective in teaching vocabulary through grade VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Kintom Banggai. Key Words: Teaching, Vocabulary, Word Search Puzzle. |
