Abstrak
ABSTRACT Asmaina (A 121 15 153). “The Implementation of Think Pair Share Technique in Improving Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade Students at SMP Negeri Satap Sibaluton”. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Tadulako University, under the supervision of Ferry Rita. The objective of this research is to investigate whether or not think pair share technique can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri Satap Sibaluton. This research applies pre-experimental research design in which the sample consists of one experimental group. The samples were selected by using total sampling technique. The samples were class VIII as the experimental group. The researcher used test as the main instrument of the research. There were two kinds of test used to collect the data. They were pre-test and post-test. The test was used to measure the students’ ability in reading comprehension through Think Pair Share technique.The technique of data collection was taken by using true or false and multiple choices.The result of this research shows that the value of t-counted is greater than the t-table (5.02>1.833). It means that the research hypothesis is accepted. As the result, the researcher concluded that the Implementation of Think Pair Share Technique is effective to improve reading comprehension of the eight grade students at SMP Negeri Satap Sibaluton.
