Abstrak ABSTRACT AGUSTINA (A12115139). USING READ COVER REMEMBER RETELL (RCRR) STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH GRADE AT SMP NEGERI 2 SINDUE. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Language Art Education Department, English Language Education Study Program, Tadulako University. It was under the supervision of Nadrun. This research aims to prove whether or not Using RCRR strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension of the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 2 Sindue. The method of this research is quasi-experimental research design which involved two classes of students as the experimental group and the control group. The samples were VIII D as the experimental group and VIII B as the control group. They were selected by using purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test for both groups. The result of the data analysis shows that there is an improvement between the results of the post-test of both groups. The mean score of the experimental group significantly improves from 38.51 to 59.44. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control group slightly increase from 37.22 to 42.96. The data was analyzed statically by applying t-test formula. By applying degree of freedom (df) is 34 and the level of significance is 0.05. It is found out that the t-counted (4.01) is higher than t-table (2.0336) which indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of RCRR strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension of the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 2 Sindue. Keywords: Improve, Reading comprehension, RCRR Strategy |
