Abstrak
ABSTRACT Nur Asni. 2019. “Improving Reading Comprehensionof Grade XI Students at SMA Muhammadiyah Parigi through Jumbled Summary Strategy” Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Mawardin M.Said. The objective of this research was to find out whether the use of jumbled summary strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension of grade XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah Parigi or not. The population of this research was the grade XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah Parigi that was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The sample was XI IPA A as the experimental class and XI IPA B as the control class. The research instrument were tests: pre-test and post-test administered to both classes. The data were analyzed statistically. The result of data analysis showed that the mean scores of the experimental class in pre-test and post-test were 47.76 and 62.25. Meanwhile, the mean scores of the control class in pre-test and post-test were 48.98 and 58.37. By applying the formula of t-test, the researher found that t-counted value (2.36) was greater than the t-table value (1.70). It indicated that the research hypothesis was accepted. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the use of jumbled summary strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension of grade XI students at SMA Muhammadiyah Parigi.
