| Abstrak ABSTRACT Alan Al Rafiqi (A 121 15 079). Using Partner Reading Strategy to Improve the Students’ Reading Comprehension of the Eight Grade Students at SMP Negeri 5 Palu. Skripsi. This research aims at investigating the effectiveness of Partner Reading strategy in improving students’ reading comprehension of the eight grade at SMP Negeri 5 Palu. This is a quasi-experimental research design. The samples were 38 students of VIII B and VIII D selected purposively. The data gathered were analyzed statistically. The data were collected through pretest and posttest. The pretest was administered to find out the students’ comprehension before the treatment. The mean score of the pre-test of the experimental group is 55.17 and the control group is 58.00. The post-test was administered to measure their reading comprehension after the treatment. The mean score of post-test is 80.33 for the experimental group and 71.67 the for control group. By applying the degree of freedom (df) 38 and 0.05 of the significance level, the results of this research indicate that the t-counted value is 3.54 (high) and the t-table value is 1.686 (low). It means that the hypothesis of the research is accepted. In other words, using Partner Reading Strategy can improve students’ reading comprehension at SMP Negri 5 Palu .
