Abstrak ABSTRACT I Gede Yogi Riski , A 121 15 077. Improving Speaking Skill of Grade Ten Students of SMAN 5 Palu Using Board Game. Skripsi. English study program, Language and Art Education Departement, Teacher training and Education Faculty. Under the Supervision of Abdul Kamaruddin. This research aims at proving that the use of board game can improve speaking skill of grade ten students of SMAN 5 Palu. The research applied quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group. The population was 155 students. The samples were 61 students of classes X MIPA 4 and X MIPA 5 which were selected employing purposive sampling technique. The data were collected by using oral pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was administered to measure the students’ speaking skill before the treatment, while the post-test was administered to measure the students’ speaking skill after the treatment. The result of the pre-test shows that the mean score of the experimental class is 52.68, while the control class is 52.65. The scores increased on the post-test 75.89 for the experimental class and 60.23 for the control class. The data were analyzed statistically using .05 level of significance and 59 degree of freedom. Furthermore, the result of data analysis shows that t-counted = 3.75 are greater than the t-table 1.672. It indicates that the research hypothesis accepted. It can be concluded that the use of board game can improve speaking skill of grade ten students of SMAN 5 Palu. Key Words: Improving, Speaking Skill, Board Game |
