Abstrak
ABSTRACT Puput Ariyati (A 121 15 075). Improving Reading Comprehension at Eighth Grade Students of MTs Tinombala by Using Story Pyramid Strategy. A skripsi, English Education Study Program, Language and arts Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, Under supervision of Ferry Rita. This research aims to investigate whether the use of Story Pyramid Strategy can improve the students’ reading comprehension in reading narrative text. This research was quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was grade eight students of MTs Tinombala. In selecting the research sampling, the researcher used total sampling technique which involved two groups; experimental and control group. The data was collected by conducting pretest and posttest. The result showed that pyramid strategy could improve students’ comprehension in reading narrative text, which proven by the result of the test showed that students’ mean score of experimental group (88.81) is higher than the score of control group (75.20). Similarity, the value of t-counted (6.12) is greater than the value of t-table (1.678). It indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. It implies the use of story pyramid strategy is effective to improve reading comprehension of narrative text. Keywords: Improving, Reading Comprehension, and Story Pyramid Strategy
