Abstrak The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of picture can improve the students’ vocabulary mastery or not. The researcher applied quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was the eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Menui. The samples were VIII A as the experimental and VIIIB as the control class. The researcher administered pretest and posttest in collecting the data. The result showed that the students’ mean score of the experimental class on the posttest (75.00) is greater than the students’ mean score of the control class (45.47). The value of t-counted (3.66) was greater than the value of t-table (2.008) indicating that the hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion is the use of picture is effective in improving vocabulary of Eighth Grade Students at SMPN 1 Menui. Keywords: improving, vocabulary, picture |
