Abstrak
This research aims at develop that the use of paragraph outline can develop writing skill of grade the VIII students of SMPN 1 Sigi. The research applied quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group. The population was 135 students. The samples were 46 students of classes VIII A and VIII B which were selected employing purposive sampling technique. The researcher used paper-and-pencil method to collect the data pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was administered to measure the students’ writing skill before the treatment, while the post-test was administered to measure the students’ writing skill after the treatment. The result of the pre-test shows that the mean score of the experimental group is 57.7, while the control group is 45.3. The scores increased on the post-test 89.9 for the experimental group and 56.4 for the control group. The data were analyzed statistically using .05 level of significance and 44 degree of freedom. Furthermore, the result of data analysis shows that t-counted = 11.4 are greater than the t-table 1.681. It indicates that the research hypothesis accepted. It can be concluded that the use of paragraph outline can develop writing skill of the grade VIII Students at SMPN 1 Sigi. Key Words:Developing, Writing Skill, Paragraph Outline
