Abstrak
ABSTRACT Iyut Yulistya Cahyani (A 121 15 015). The Implementation of Trivia-based Activity to Improve Students’ Speaking Skill at the Eleventh Grade of SMA Negeri 2 Palu, Skripsi, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Department of Language and Art Education, English Language Education Study Program, under the supervision of Aminah. This study aims to find out whether or not the implementation of trivia-based activity can improve speaking skill of the grade eleventh students of SMA Negeri 2 Palu. The research applied quasi experimental design. The samples were students of class XI MIA 5 with 23 students as the experimental class and XI MIA 2 with 26 students as the control class. The samples were selected by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by using pretest and posttest as the research instrument. The result of the pretest mean score were 56.521 in experimental class and 58.173 in control class. Meanwhile, the posttest mean score in the experimental class shown 80.98 while in control class were 65.87. The result of statistical analysis shows that the t-counted value is 3.63 while the t-table value is 1.68. The result of the calculation indicates that the t-counted value is higher than the t-table value. It implies that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that students’ speaking skil of SMA Negeri 2 Palu can be improved by using trivia-based activity. Key words : improving, speaking, skill, trivia-based, activity
