Abstrak
ABSTRACT Resky Pratama Parasak (A121 15 007). Implementing Free Writing to Improve the Writing Skill of Recount Text of the Eighth Grade Students at SMP BK Palu. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, Under the Supervision of Hasan Basri. This research aims at investigating Implementing Freewriting to Improve the Students’ Writing Skill in Recount Text of the Eighth Grade Students at SMP BK Palu. The researcher applied quasi-experimental research design by using purposive sampling technique to choose the sample. The instruments of data collection were pretest and posttest. The pretest was used to measure prior knowledge of the students and the posttest was used to measure the development of the students’ ability after the treatment. The t-test was analyzed to compare the mean scores of both classes. There is a significant difference score on posttest of the experimental group (70.83) and the control group (56.35). The level of significance was set up at 0.05 with 39 degree of freedom (df= 20+21-2= 39). The result of data analysis indicates that t-counted (4.22) was higher than the t-table (2.0227). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, implementing free writing is effective to improve writing skill especially in recount text at the eighth grade students of SMP BK Palu.
