Hairul Mufti (A 121 14 188). “The Use of Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) Method to Develop Students’ Speaking Skill of Grade XI at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Khairaat Moutong”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Ferry Rita and Wahyudin. The objective of the research is to test whether or not the implementation of Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) Method can develop students’ speaking skill of grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Khairaat Moutong. This research was conducted through quasi experimental research design in which the samples of the research were grades XI IPS 1 and XI IPA 1. The obtained data of this research were analyzed statistically in order to find out the difference between two groups on the posttest after the treatment using Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) Method given to the experimental group. It was found that the mean scores of both the experimental and control groups on the posttest were respectively 63.89 and 60.00. Furthermore, referring to the ttable value of df 28 (15+15-2) by applying 0.05 level of significance on one-tailed test, it was found that the tcounted value of this research (5.25) is higher than the ttable value (1.70). On top of that, the use of Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) Method can develop the speaking skill of grade XI students at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Khairaat Moutong.
