Abstrak ABSTRACT Muhammad Rifki (A 121 14 147). “Identifying Vocabulary Mastery Level of Grade XI Students at Sma Negeri 5 Palu”. Skripsi. Under the supervision of Sudarkam The objectives of the study are The objective of this study was to identify the students’ vocabulary master level of SMA NEGERI 5 PALU. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research approach. Here, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive research method because this research explored the phenomenon. Population of this study is the whole of the second year of IPS classes of SMAN 5 Palu in academic year of 2020/2021. The writer got the data from the registration office showing that there were 306 students of the first-year students. In this case the writer is choose them because they are from the same level. The subjects of this research were students. Participants in this study were 20 students of Class XI MIA 2 SMA NEGERI 5 PALU. . In this study, the researcher used a questionnaire and test as a research instrument. Based on the findings of this study the researchers concluded that the result of the test shows the low level of the students’ vocabulary mastery. It means that there are some problems causes the difficulty on the students in line with questionnaire data proves some problems in mastering vocabulary, namely pronunciation and spelling, word meaning, and attitude behavior.
