Abstrak
Nilawati A 121 14 119.This skripsi is entitled “The Use of Course Review Horay Method in English Teaching to Improve Reading Skill of X Grade Students at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar” under the supervision of Nursehang Thamrin. The objective of this research is to find out if the use of Course Review Horay (CRH) improves reading skill of grade X students at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar. This research employed quasi experimental research design in which the two groups received pre-test and post-test. The population was the X grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar. The sample was selected by using cluster sampling. Class X IPA 1 with 33 students was the experimental group and class X IPA 2 with 33 students was the control group. The researcher collected data through pre-test and post-test which were employed to the experimental and control groups. The result of test shows that the mean score of experimental group for post test 77,19 which improve 36,89 from pre test (40,30), while the mean score of control group for post test 66,59. This score showed, that the mean score of experimental group higher than the mean score of the control group on post-test. By applying one tailed test at 0.05 level of significance with 64 degree of freedom (df), it is found that the value of t-counted (5.69) was grater then t-table (1.667). It confirms that, the Course Review Horay is effective to improve the reading skill of the X grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Kasimbar it means the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
