Abstrak
ABSTRACT Rani Silvana Safitri (A 121 14 045). “A Study on the Use of Task-Based Learning in Teaching English. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Rofiqoh. This study was conducted through Library Research Design which aimed at describing the implementation of task-based learning in teaching English. This research was using Willis (1996) as the ground theory model with the following framework: pre-task, task-cycle, and language focus. The data was taken from the ones conducted within 2014-2019. There were at least six studies used as the data sources in this recent study. They were from Hai-yan (2014) conducting the research on the big EFL classes in China; Munirah and Muhsin (2015) doing the research at SMA Negeri 2 Sungguminasa in Gowa; Sar?çoban and Karakurt (2016) conducting the research at School of Foreign Languages, Department of Basic English, State University, Turkey; Aguirre (2018) doing the research at International Business Students at the SENA in Buenaventura; Chen and Wang (2019) conducting the research at the first Undergraduate College Students in China; and Tusino, Faridi, Saleh, and Fitriati (2019) doing the research on the EFL students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo, Indonesia. Based on the results of the implementation of task-based learning from the six researchers, it was found that in general all task-based learning framework that conducted by the six researchers were similar with Willis (1996) in using the procedure whether some researchers applied with several differences for activities. At the end, the significant result that was found that by using task-based learning, it increased and improved students’ achievement in learning English skills.
