Language Education and Art Department. Teacher Training and Educational Faculty. Under Supervision of Sudarkam Mertosono and Erniwati. The objective of this research is to find out if using film discussion can stimulate speaking creativity of grade X students of SMA Negeri 8 Palu. The researcher employed quasi-experimental research design. The samples of this research were the students of X IPA 1 as the experimental group and X IPA 2 as the control group selected by using cluster random sampling technique. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of the students’ achievement before and after the treatments. The mean score of experimental group on pretest was 30.35, while the control group was 36.87. The mean score of experimental group on posttest was 67.5, and the control group was 44.37. Based on the result of the pretest and the posttest, the researcher found that t-counted value was 3.71. By applying degree of freedom (df) 39 and 0.05 level of significance, it was found that t-table value was 2.02. It means that t-counted value (2.02) was higher than t-table value (1.69) or the hypothesis was accepted. In other words, using film discussion can stimulate speaking creativity of grade ten students of SMA Negeri 8 Palu. Keywords: Stimulating; Speaking; Creativity; Film Discussion |
