| Abstrak The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of textless comic toward XI Grade students’ achievement in writing English narrative text at SMA Negeri 9 Palu. The researcher used quasi-experimental research design. The samples of this research were the students of XI MIA 2 as the experimental group and XI MIA 1 as the control group selected by using purposive sampling technique. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of the students’ achievement before and after the treatments. The mean score of pretest of experimental group was 40.74, while the control group was 37.2. The mean score of posttest of experimental group was 84.0, and the control group was 64.4. Based on the result of pretest and posttest, the researcher found that t-counted value was 2.06. By applying degree of freedom (df) 39 (21+20-2) and 0.05 level of significance, it was found that t-table value was 2.02. The result showed that t-counted value (2.06) is higher than t-table value (1.69). It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In other words, using textless comic is effective to improve students achievement in writing English narrative text of SMA Negeri 9 Palu. |
