| Abstrak Ratu Mustika Trisnawati (A12114002). Judul Skripsi “Analisis Kemampuan Berbicara Siswa Kelas IX SMPN 14 Palu dalam menyampaikan Storytelling “. Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, JurusanPendidikan Bahasa dan Seni, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Tadulako, di bimbingan oleh Darmawan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui analisis kemampuan berbicara siswa kelas IX SMPN 14 Palu dalam menyampaikan cerita. Populasi adalah siswa di SMPN 14 Palu. Peneliti menggunakan teknik undian sampling dengan mengambil sampel dari populasi. Peneliti menunjukkan bahwa persentase kemampuan siswa. Sebagian besar siswa masih dalam taraf kurang dengan persentase (50%), selanjutnya “baik” (15%), selanjutnya “buruk” (15%), dan terakhir “Sangat Baik” (20%) . Peneliti berusaha untuk menempatkan analisis temuan sesuai dengan urutan tingkat yang paling sering. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat frekuensi siswa yang paling sering adalah “kurang” (50%). Selain itu, peneliti menyimpulkan tingkat siswa pada setiap komponen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat kefasihan yaitu 2(10%) Siswa Sangat Baik, 5(25%) Siswa Baik, 7 (35%) Siswa Kurang, 6(30%) Siswa Buruk. Siswa tidak mencapai nilai maksimal dari KD 3.9 4.10 pada kurikulum 2013. Sedangkan pada kompresibilitas, hasil menunjukkan bahwa 2 (10%) Siswa Sangat Baik, 4 (20%) Siswa Baik, 8 (40%) Siswa Kurang , 6(30%) Siswa Buruk. Setelah menghitung data dari komponen-komponen tersebut, peneliti menemukan bahwa keterampilan berbicara siswa di SMPN 14 Palu masih rendah dalam menyampaikan cerita. The title of Skripsi “The Analysis of Speaking Ability of the Ninth Grade Students of SMPN 14 Palu in Delivering Story Telling”. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the Supervision of Darmawan. This research is aimed to know the analysis of speaking ability of the ninth grade students at SMPN 14 Palu in delivering story telling. Population was the students at SMPN 14 Palu. The researcher uses lottery sampling technique intaking sample from the population. The researcher shows that the percentage of students’ ability. Most of the students are still in less level with the percentage (50%), the next is “good” (15%) , the next is “bad” (15%), and the last is “Excellent”(20%). The researcher attempts to put the findings analysis in accordance to the order of the most frequents levels. It shows that the most frequents level of the students is “less” (50%). Moreover, the researcher concluds student’s level on each component. The results shows the level in fluency that 2(10%) Students was Excellent, 5(25%) Students was Good, 7 (35%) Students is less, 6(30%) Students were bad. The students did not achieved the maximum score from KD 3.9 4.10 on curriculum 2013. While on compressibility, the results shows that 2(10%) Students is Excellent, 4(20%) Students is Good, 8 (40%) Students is less, 6(30%) Students is Bad. After calculating the data from those components, the researcher find that the students’ speaking skill at SMPN 14 Palu is still low in delivering storytelling.
