Abstrak
ABSTRACT Ansar. 2019.Improving Students Speaking Skill At The Eighth Grade Of SMP Negeri @ Sirenja. Skripsi. English Study Program. Language and Art Education Department. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Tadulako University. Under the Supervisior of Konder Manurung. This research aims at investigating the effectiveness of using realia to improve students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Sirenja. This research applied quasi-experimental research design with 49 students as sample. The sample of this research was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was a test divided into pre-test and post-test. The data gathered were analyzed statistically. The result of the data analysis shows that there was a significant difference between the results of pre-test and post-test. It was proven by seeing at the mean score of both tests’ results where the mean score of experimental group was significantly improved from 52.5 to 80. Meanwhile, control group’s mean score was improved from 44.79 to 59.37. Based on the result of the pre-test and the post-test, the researcher found that the t-counted value is 3.06. By applying degree of freedom (df) 47 and 0.05 level of significance, the researcher found that the value of t-table is 2.01 which shows that the value of t-counted (3.06) is higher than the value of t-table (2.01). It could be concluded that the research hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of realia can improve students’ speaking skill at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 2 Sirenja.
