Abstrak BSTRACT Regina Dian Sisilia Kasenda (A 121 13 139). “Improving Speaking Skill through Contextual Teaching and Learning at the Eighth Grade Students at SMP Negeri 14 Palu”. Skripsi. English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Konder Manurung. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning can improve the speaking skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Palu. This research was conducted through quasi experimental research design, in which the samples of the research were grades VIII Ahmad Yani and VIII Cut Nyak Dien chosen purposedly. Additionally, the data of this research were obtained through test and observation. The means of the experimental and control groups on the posttest are 70.00 and 50.40. Afterwards, the obtained data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference between two groups on the posttest. The result shows that the tcounted value of this research is 8.23. By applying 0.05 level of significance on two-tailed test, and df 58, it is found that the ttable value is 2.00. It signifies that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning can develop speaking skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Palu.
