Abstrak
ABSTRACT Oka Mahendra,(2019), Skripsi, Improving the Students’ Ability to Use Simple Past Tense through Chain Story Game at SMP Negeri 6 Palu,Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Art and Language Department, English Study Program, under the supervision of Konder Manurung and Wahyudin. This research aims to find out if using Chain Story Game effective to improve the ability simple past tense of eighth grade students at SMPN 6 Palu. This research applied quasi-experimental design involved two sample groups. They were VIII D as experimental group and VIII C as control group.They were selected by using purposive sampling technique. In collecting the data, the researcher gave pretest and posttest for both groups. The results of the data analysis indicate that there is a significant difference between pretest and posttest. The mean score of the experimental group before the treatment is 40.6 while the control group is 39.8. After the treatment, the mean score of the experimental group is 64 and the control group is 47,6. It is also shown that the t-counted (3,84) is greater than the t-table(1.99) which indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, using of Chain story game can improve the ability of simple past tense of eighth grade at SMPN 6 Palu. Key Terms: Improving; Simple Past Tense, Chain Story Game
