| Abstrak ABSTRACT Sergio Stoykov Abe (2020), Skripsi, Improving the Pronunciation through Cartoon Movie of the Second Grade Students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Utara, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Language and Art Department, English Study Program, under the supervision of Hasan Basri and Muhammad Arid. The aim of this research is to prove whether using Cartoon Movie is effective to improve pronunciation of second grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Utara or not, specifically in monophtongs. This research used quasi experimental research design that has two criteria of groups as the sample of the research which is class B as the experimental group and class D as the control group. The research population was the second grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Utara which consisted of 178 students. The researcher used purposive sampling and adopted two groups pre-test and post-test design.The data gathered was analyzed statistically. The result shows there is a significant difference between the students’ score on pre-test and post-test in experimental group (from 36,91 to 63,29) compared to students’ mean score in control group (from 36,07 to 54,41). The t-counted (3,75) is higher than t-table (1,671), it means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words the use of Cartoon movie is effective to improve pronunciation of the second grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Utara. Key Terms: Improving; Pronunciation; Cartoon Movie |
