Abstrak
The objective of this research is to find out whather the use of spelling bee Game of grade VIII students at SMPN 14 Palu can increase the students’ vocabulary or not. The researcher applied quasi-experimental research design which involved experimental class and control class. The population of this research was the grade VIII students at SMPN 14 Palu. The researcher selected the sample by using cluster random sampling technique. The sample of this research was the students of VIII A (experimental class) and VIII B (control class) which ware both of the class consist of 24 students. The technique of data collection was test (pretest and posttest)the test was in form of spelling bee game, multiple choice and matching with meaning. The experimental class was treated by applying spelling bee game while the control class did not use this technique.The result of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between pretesttand posttest. Looking at experimental and control class, the researcher found that there is significant difference beetween the results of the experimental class. It is proved by applying the testing hypothesis. The researcher found that the t-counted 7.88 were higher than t-table 1.632. It means that the hypothesis is accepted. In conclusion, the use of spelling bee game is effective to increase vocabulary of grade VIII students at SMPN 14 Palu Key words:Increasing Spelling Bee Game, and Vocabulary.
