Abstrak ABSTRACT Hawatri Oktaviani (2019). This skripsi entitles “Improving vocabulary mastery of eight grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Palu through Flashcard Technique.” A Skripsi of English Education Study Program, Language and Art Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, at Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Ferry Rita. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the vocabulary mastery of the eight grade students at SMP Negeri 17 Palu can be improved through flashcard technique. The researcher applied quasi-experimental research design. The population was 180 students enrolled in academic 2018/2019. The sample were class VIII E as the experimental group and class VIII F as the control group. The samples were selected by using purposive sampling technique. After analyzing all the gathered data, the data analysisshow that there is improvement on students vocabulary mastery. It was proved by the data from the mean score that the post-test was 84.61 while the control class was 76.31. The researcher also found that the t-counted is 5,54 was much higher than the t-table is 1.9895 that indicate the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Based on the results, it can be concluded that flashcard technique gives a significant improvement in vocabulary. It means that the use of flashcard technique can improve English vocabulary mastery of eight grade at SMP Negeri 17 Palu. Keywords: Improvin; Vocabulary Mastery; Flashcard Technique. |
