Abstrak ABSTRACT WahyuSatrioDwiSaputra (2019). “Improving Listening Comprehension of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 15 Palu through Partial Dictation”, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Abdul Kamaruddin and Maf’ulah. This research aims to find out whether or not the use Partial Dictation improves the listening comprehension of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Palu. The researcher employed quasi-experimental research design. This research applied a pre-test and post-test design. It involved two groups, experimental group and control group. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling. The instrument of data collection was a test. The results of data analysis show that the mean score of the experimental group is48.82in pre-test and 70.1 in post-test. Whereas,the mean score of control group is47.5in pre-test and 51.92 inpost-test. By applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom 49(df = 25 + 26 – 2), the researcher found that the t-countedvalue (7.56) is higher than thet-tablevalue(2.01). The hypothesis is accepted. It means thatthe use of Partial Dictationimprovesthe speaking skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 15 Palu |
