Abstrak
Khalid (A121 12 124). Improving Reading Comprehension of the eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 16 Palu through Experience Text Relationship. A skripsi English Education Study Program of Language and Art Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Tadulako University. Under the Supervisor of Ferry Rita. This research aims to find our whether the implementation of Experience Text Relationship can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Palu. The research design is Pre-experimental design. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Palu. The researcher took the students in class VIII E as the sample by using purposive sampling technique. The data were collected through pretest and posttest. The pretest is conducted measure the student ability before treatment and posttest is administered to measure the students after treatment. Based on the result of the test, the mean score of pretest is 66.7 while the mean score of posttest is 84.4, so the mean score increase from pretest to posttest about (16.16). Furthermore, the researcher present that t-counted 4.694 by applying 0.05 level of significance and 19 degree of freedom (df), the researcher present that t-table is 1.734. It means that t-counted is higher than t-table. In conclusion, the hypothesis of this research is accepted and the use Experience Text Relationship can improve reading comprehension of the students is effective.
