Abstrak
ABSTRACT CahyaPratami(2018), “Improving Reading ComprehensionOf Eight Grade Students Through Know-Want-Learn Strategy at SMPN 14 Palu. English Education Study Program, Language Art and Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervisionMawardin M Said and Ferry Rita. The research aims at proving the use of Know-Want-Learn strategy can improve the reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Palu. The research employed quasi experimental design. This research applied a pretest and posttest design.It involved two classes, experimental class and control class. The population of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 14 Palu. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The sample is 42 students of class eight C as the experimental class and eight D as the control class. The researcher analyzed the data statistically. The result of data analysis shows that the mean score of experimental class (78.3) is higher than the mean score of control class (67.1). The deviation score of both experimental and control group is 7.45.The result of tcounted (4.23) which is higher than the ttable (2.02). In the analyzing the data, the researcher used 0.05 level of significance and 40 degree of freedom (df = 21 + 21– 2)It means that the hypothesis of the research was accepted. Therefore, the application of Know-Want-Learn strategy is improved student’s reading comprehension. Keywords: Improving,Know-Want-Learn strategy, Reading Comprehension.
