Abstrak
ABSTRACT Ita Astikasari (A 121 12 104). Teaching Writing Skills to Grade VIII Students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu through Imaginative Approach. Under the supervisions of Ferry Rita and Hj. Hastini. This research aims to find out the effectiveness of Imaginative Approach in improving writing skills of grade eighth students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu. This research used pre-experimental research design. The population of this research was the Eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu. The sample of this research was selected by using total sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was tests. The data were analyzed statistically to find out the significant difference of the students improvement in pretest and posttest. After analyzing the data, the researcher found out that the mean score of pretest was 26.16 and the posttest was 53.51. By applying 0.05 level of significance and 36 (37-1) degree of freedom (df) it was found out the t-counted value (9.52) was higher than t-table value (1.6892). The result of data analysis indicates that the hypotesis is accepted. It means that the implementation of Imaginative Approach is effective for improving writing skills of grade eighth students of SMP Negeri 12 Palu..
