| Abstrak ABSTRACT Angga Hardiyanto (2019). “Improving Reading Comprehension of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 14 Palu through Team Word Webbing”, English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, under the supervision of Ferry Rita and Mashuri. This research aims to find out whether or not the use Team Word Webbing improves the reading comprehension of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Palu. The researcher employed quasi-experimental research design. This research applied a pre-test and post-test design. It involved two groups, experimental group and control group. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling. The instrument of data collection was a test. The results of data analysis show that the mean score of the experimental group in pre-test was 46.66 and 66.82 in post-test. Whereas, the mean score of control group was 43.66 and 55.07 in post-test. By applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom 49 (df = 21 + 21 – 2) , the researcher found that the t-countedvalue (4.54) is higher than the t-tablevalue (2.01). The hypothesis was accepted. It means that the use of Team Word Webbing improves the reading skill of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 14 Palu Keywords: Reading Comprehension; Team Word Webbing. |
