Abstrak ABSTRACT Gabrela Podung (2019), “The Useof RAP (Read-Ask-Put) strategy to Improve Reading Comprehension of Year Eight Students of SMP Negeri 9 Sigi”,under supervisions of Abdul.Kamaruddin and Muhammad Arid. The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of RAP (Read-AskPut) strategy to improve reading comprehension of year eight students of SMP Negeri 9 Sigi. The researcher used quasi-experimental research design using non equivalent control group design. The population of this research is VIII at SMP Negeri 9 Sigi. Samples were selected using purposive sampling, VIIIB assigned as experimental group and VIIIC assigned as control group. Experimental group was taught with RAP while control group was no taught with RAP strategy. Data were collected using test (pre-test and post-test). The mean scores of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group are 55.72 and 73.43, while the coefficient of difference mean score of the pre-test and the post-test of the control group are 58.43 and 70.62. The result of the data analysis shows that the differences between the two mean is significant. It means that the application of RAP (ReadAsk-Put) strategy is effective on improving the students’ reading comprehension. Keywords: RAP (Read-Ask-Put) Strategy, Reading Comprehension. |
