| Abstrak ABSTRACT Nurdiani. A 121 12 053. This skripsi is entitled Improving Students’ Speaking Skill at Grade X of SMA Negeri 7 Sigi Through Story Completion Technique, under the supervision of Konder Manurung and Nur Sehang. The research aimes at proving that the use of story completion technique can improve the students’ speaking skill of the grade tenth students of SMAN 7 Sigi. A quasi experimental research design was used as the research design. The sample was 34 students of X B as the experimental, selected by using purposive sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was a test given as pretest and posttest. The result of the test showed that the mean score of the experimental group in the pretest to the posttest is increased from 56.69 to 65.95. The data indicates that the t¬-counted value (7.10) is degree t-table value (2,00) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) is Nx + Ny -2 = 34+28-2 = 60. It means that the researcher hypothesis is accepted. It is proved that use of story completion technique can improve the speaking skill of grade X students of SMA Negeri 7 Sigi.
