Abstrak Annisa Ramadhani (A12117098) This skripsi is entitled “An Investigation of Teachers’ Strategies in Teaching Reading Comprehension at MAN 1 Palu” English Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University, 2021, (Supervised by Mukrim) The teaching of reading comprehension as one of the language competency in English considered being important as through reading, the students will be easier to add and get new information from any kind of text. This research aims is finding out the strategies used by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension. This research used a descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects of this research were English teachers’ and students’ at Senior High School MAN 1 Palu. The instrument of this research was an interview. The researcher found two strategies used by the teacher, the reasons why they apply it, and the impact to students’ reading achievement. First the result of the research shows that two strategies were used by the teacher in teaching reading comprehension: scaffolding and QARs (question answer relationship) strategy. Second the result of the research shows reasons why they apply it to comprehend the text. And third, the result shows the impact of the strategies used by the teacher students’ must be able to comprehend the text they read.
