| Abstrak Suriono Santoso. A 121 10 089. Improving the Ability of the VIII Grade Students of SMP Negeri 6 Pasangkayu in Writing Descriptive Paragraph through Pictures. Under supervision of Sriati Usman and Budi. The objective of this research is to find out the use of pictures technique can improve the ability of students’ writing descriptive paragraph or not. The research design was pre-experimental research with a pretest and posttest design. The population of this research was the VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Pasangkayu. The sample of this research was selected by using purposive sampling technique. The instrument of data collection was tests. The data were analyzed statistically in order to find out the significant difference of the students improvement in pretest and posttest. After analyzing the data, the researcher found out that the result of pretest was 35.99 and posttest was 53.55. By applying 0.05 level of significance and 29 (30- 1) degree of freedom (df). It is found out that t-counted value (15.66) was greater than ttable value (2.045). The results of data analysis indicated that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the implementation of pictures media can improve the students’ writing ability. Keywords: writing, paragraph, Ability, pictures. |
