| Abstrak This research was carried out in order to prove whether or not the use of reading passage can develop the students’ vocabulary of the seventh year students at SLTP Negeri 9 Moutong. This research was true experimental design (pre test and post test), which involved two sample groups. They were an experimental group (VIIA), which consisted of 30 students and control group (VIIB), which consisted of 20 students. The samples were drawn from total population of two classes. The data of the research were collected by employing pre-test and post test. The test was analyzed by using statistic. The writer conducted eight times treatment to the experimental group by using reading passage. By applying two-tailed test at 0,05 level of significance with 48 degree of freedom (df) Nx + Ny – 2 = 30+20-2 = 48, the writer found that the tcounted value (9.76) was higher than the ttable value (2.000). It proved that the use of reading can developed the students’ vocabulary of the first year students at SLTP Negeri 9 Moutong. |
