Wahyudin S. Palada. 2025. Implementation of Experiential Learning in Poetry Writing Learning for Grade VIII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Tojo Barat. Skripsi. Bachelor’s degree. Indonesian Language Education Study Program, Language and Art Education Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tadulako University. Under the supervision of Juniati. This research aims to describe the implementation and results of poetry writing learning using the experiential learning model for grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Tojo Barat. The background of this research stems from the low interest and involvement of students in poetry writing learning due to conventional approaches that still dominate. The experiential learning model was selected because it emphasizes learning based on real experiences relevant to students' lives. This research used a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach. The research subjects were 22 grade VIII students. Data collection techniques include observation, questionnaires, interviews, documentation, and poetry writing tests. The research results showed that the implementation of the experiential learning model through four stages (concrete experience, reflective observation, conceptualization, and implementation) was able to increase student activity in the learning process. Test results showed that all students obtained scores above the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) with a class average of 92. Student responses to this learning model were also very positive, marked by high enthusiasm and increased learning motivation. Thus, the implementation of experiential learning proved effective in improving students' poetry writing abilities and can be an alternative learning model that is contextual and enjoyable. Keywords: Experiential Learning, poetry writing, experience-based learning, junior high school
