Abstrak
The objective of this research is to find out if the application of story grammar strategy improves students’ reading comprehension of the eighth grade at MTs DDI Lonja. This research used quasi-experimental research. The samples of the research which were selected by using total sampling technique were students of VIII B as the experimental group and VIII A as control group. In collecting the data, the researcher gave a pretest and a posttest for both groups. The research instrument was reading comprehension test. The result of data analysis shows that there is a significant difference between the result of pretest and posttest. The mean score of the experimental class before treatment is 36.58 while the control class is 37.34. After the treatment, the mean score of the experimental class is 61.47 and the control class is 51.02. The result of t-counted is 5.80. The degree of freedom (df) 38 (20+20?2) with the level significance 0.05, the researcher found that t-table is 2.005. It shows that t-counted (5.80) is greater than t-table (2.005) which indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of story grammar strategy improves students’ reading comprehension of the Eighth Grade at MTs DDI Lonja.
